Boundaries - Chapter 1 -3
Hello Ladies! I first of all want to thank everyone who made it to our first meeting! I know the dates and times don't work for everyone, so stay current as our meeting dates change! The next meeting will be at Anna's house on Wednseday, February 24th!
Our thoughts on Chapters 1-3/ Boundaries
"Boundaries are anything that helps differentiate you from someone else, or shows where you begin and end."
Please respond with any thoughts or insight you had after reading the first 3 chapters:
Some of my own thoughts:
-I first of all totally connected with the opening woman and a day in her "boundaryless life." I started to gain insight that I am very "compliant" and have a hard time verbally expressing my own boundaries. This includes saying no out of fear of making other uncomfortable, or upset! We should all be honest to ourselves and be sure to spell out expectations. Others in our lives cannot be mind readers!
- When discussing Emotional Distance as well as Consequences as boundairesI found it very interesting that the authors encouraged "Forgiving, but Guarding your heart until you see sustained change." Also, using consequences when moving on from conflict with people who have crossed your boundaries seemed encouraging. I think we all feel so much pressure to just forgive and forget with people as thats the right thing to do.... I think it's important to communicate expectations and consequences before moving on and was glad to read this.
